Headout is a perfectly respectable booking app. It is simply the wrong tool for Asakusa. When we checked, its "Things to do in Asakusa" page listed four live products, while GetYourGuide's Asakusa page showed more than 500. Add a few dead or non-refundable listings that still show up in search, and the honest advice is: use Headout in cities where it has depth, and book Asakusa elsewhere. We have no business relationship with Headout either way.

This is the part that should make you careful. Headout still has older Asakusa pages that are easy to land on from a search engine:
- A three-hour Asakusa walking food tour now says "This experience is unavailable".
- An Asakusa rickshaw experience, whose page title still carries an old year, says its tickets "can't be cancelled or rescheduled".
- A street go-kart ride from Asakusa carries the same no-cancellation line.
Non-refundable is not automatically bad; plenty of good shows are sold that way. But a rickshaw is the most weather-dependent thing you can book in Asakusa, and locking it in with no way out is poor value when GetYourGuide's rickshaw listings usually allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before. Two things stand out. Headout's customer score is actually better than GetYourGuide's, so this is not a story about a bad company. And the best-known product all three share, the sumo show, is sold on near-identical terms everywhere. The difference is everything around it: on GetYourGuide you can add a morning walking tour and an afternoon workshop from the same Asakusa page; on Headout, you will be searching Tokyo-wide and finding very little.
The company, briefly
Headout was founded in 2014; its co-founder and CEO is Varun Khona, and Trustpilot lists its address in New York. Its last reported funding round was a Series B of 30 million US dollars. The site claims more than 56 million guests, round-the-clock support and a "100% booking protection" guarantee; those are its own marketing lines, and we have not tested the guarantee.
Customers rate it well overall: 4.4 from about 64,000 reviews on Trustpilot and 4.65 on the US App Store at the time of our check. The complaints cluster around three things: confusing meeting points, refunds that require evidence, and support that doesn't resolve the problem. The first one is worth taking seriously in Asakusa, where "meet at Kaminarimon" can mean several different corners of a very crowded gate.
When Headout might still make sense
If you already have Headout credit, or you are booking a bigger Tokyo trip and want everything in one app, buying the sumo show there is fine: same show, same free cancellation window. Just check the refund line on anything else, and ignore any Asakusa listing that doesn't have a recent booking count.
